Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil Empire. Although Obi-Wan sacrifices himself in a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader, his former apprentice, Luke proves that the Force is with him by destroying the Empire’s dreaded Death Star.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope is where Star wars began!
Being the first Star Wars filmed, and being made in 1977 means that Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was made with that we now call ‘old’ technology. Where the prequel movies relied heavily on computer CGI, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was made using mostly practical effects (A practical effect is a special effect produced physically, without computer-generated imagery or other post production techniques.) When it was made, A New Hope truly raised the bar for movie special effects. My favorites are the light sabers (which, like with blasters, were drawn directly on the film negative frame-by-frame by hand) and the explosions during space battles, which was done using models of the ships packed with an explosive charge.
The films musical score is also excellent, and really sets the mood for every scene of the movie. Even those who are not fans of the movies will instantly recognize the score.
It is Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope’s story that really stands out and makes Star Wars a classic. A memorable story of good vs. evil with characters that embody what they stand for.
